I Want To Be Blind!

Last weekend, we attended a seminar by Bernie Siegel, MD, the well-known author of Prescriptions for Living and numerous other books. At the seminar, Bernie asked the question "If you had to choose to be either deaf or blind, which would you choose?" He said most people choose deaf, but that choosing blind might actually be a better choice.

Since then, our child has been saying "I want to be blind!" So we agreed and the day was spend 'blind' by wearing several layers of sleeping eye masks.

It was a tremendous learning experience! Hours were spent stumbling around the house. One time, in a panic, we heard calling for our help to find our child! While the plan was to spend the day 'blind', after just a few hours it was decided that seeing is much better!

I was reminded how blessed we are to have a healthy family.

haha I think it's pretty cool that you and your wife decided to go "blind" for a day..or a few hours. I've always wanted to do the same thing for a whole day, and I've been trying to think of something weird to do on my birthday so I decided to go "blind" on my 21st birthday. Since you're already an experienced temporary blind person, I was wondering if you could give me tips on whether there's anything I should keep in mind when I'm unable to see so I can minimize the knocking of things over and other accidents..!
